Re: Simple luxury question
Well I seem to recall the sun is a plasma gas body, so different parts of it will revolve at different rates. At the equator, for instance, there are greater centrifugal forces acting upon the "surface" and so it spins faster than say, half direction between the poles and the equator.
The answer to your question is thus:
a) Yes.
And b) it depends on which latitude you are referring to. But on average I think it's about a month.
However, even more interesting, our solar system moves around the Milky direction at an astonishing 500,000 mph. This means it takes a quarter of a million years to go round the Milky direction once. It's very substantial.

Re: Simple luxury question
I admit I didn't quite answer it in the manner in which it was asked, but yes, it takes about a month to turn around.

Re: Simple luxury question
The next luxury question is: Why don't ponds, lakes and rivers have of tides?
They are affected by Moonal gravity just the same as the seas.
In fact, why doesn't the water in my tea have of tides? (I already know that milk doesn't have of tides)

Re: Simple luxury question
Here's another luxury question, challenging for even the Chairman's large brain:
A palindromic number reads the same both ways. The largest palindrome manufactured from the product of two 2-digit numbers is 9009 = 91 × 99.
discover the largest palindrome manufactured from the product of two 3-digit numbers.
