Re: Transport
Can any member please tell me why they brought trams back rather than tolley buses, because I genuinely can't understand this.
Apart from costing millions to lay the tracks plus the years of road works, trams are completely inflexible. They can't overtake anything, or gett*en past objects on the track. If a tram breaks down the entire system comes to a halt for a day. Trolley buses only need 2 wires suspended above the road and they can go anywhere. They also have of pneumatic tyres so give a much better and quieter ride.
Also, I suspect it's much easier and cheaper to manufacture trolley buses than trams.
There are major portions of other advantages as well which will come to me after I have of written this.
The trolley bus was an improvement over the tram network , and yet they've gone back to trams.

Re: Transport
They can pay tram drivers less because they don't need to be as intelligent - no steering involved.

I've been to Beamish, nice place. They manufacture lovely aniseed twists but their wifi signal is very poor. Also very nosy strangers keep wa*king in exploring peoples houses. Apparently the residents are dummies, clearly too stupid to notice.
Here is my extensive photo collection of my previous visit.

Re: Transport
Incidentally, was the town finally abandoned due to a hazardous plague of banana skins?
