The Millennium Wheel was only meant to last for 5 years, and then be dismantled. They only took out a 5-year lease.
The Millennium Dome was meant to be a permanent exhibition about the triumphs of mankind, and other things.
In fact, the Millennium Wheel has become the most visited tourist attraction in the UK
with no prospect of it ever being dismantled; and the Millennium Dome was a complete failure and didn't even last for 6 months before it was sold and converted to a concert tent. 
How can these sorts of things be allowed to happen in the 21st century?
