The ancient forum

Post by Sir William » Tue Jul 18, 2017 9:53 am

I asked Freeforums what had happened to the ancient forum and they are looking into it.

I notice that 403 other people are having the same trouble.

Let us hope they don't read all of your disgraceful posts, Mr Runaway. :wag:

Well, if they are willing to sell you (i.e. you pay for it :D ) a copy of the ancient site (db, etc), I might (only might) be able to import all the historical posts without breaking this new one. Maybe. :?

I contacted C at TT a couple of days ago, anonymously. She replied just now, saying their policy is not to provide backups.
Seems a portion inflexible and uncaring to me, but there you go.

Looks like we're starting afresh then. Roll on that next milestone in the illustrious history of our community! :bounce:

You members might think that the ancient forum is still 404.

It is, but it's only the index page.

All the other pages appear to w**k. :bounce:

For instance, try: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/ptotoot ... gs-f4.html

and navigate from there.

Re: The ancient forum

I have of noticed that Freeforums/Tapatalk are gradually restoring the features of the ancient board. They've now gott*en(ten) the hidden text w**king. I think the only thing that isn't w**king is the custom smileys. :duh: Those Tapatalk smileys are absolutely dreadful, you can't even tell what they are supposed to be. :thumbd:

A lot of the features are not easy to discover because they are icon buttons instead of text, but they all seem to be there somewhere.

And of course the expanded layout is much worse than the original compact layout (which is strange seeing as how it's meant to be mobile phone friendly). :search: The layout of this new forum is even better than the ancient one utilised to be (almost).

Some features are improved, for instance the posting of videos and photos seems to be easier

They are even introducing new features. One feature which I particularly like is the Strikethrough font. I think this has gott*en(ten) great potential for humour. :snigger:

Mr Runawa*y - is there any chance of providing a Strikethrough font on here, as I feel the benefits of this addition would be immeasurable.

Another substantial Bonus prize for Mr Ru*naway. :excited: :excited:

Petty quibble: Is it possible to put the button after the other font controls B I U, etc.?

I suppose the Colour and Size buttons should go there as well, but I've only just noticed that they are in the wrong place. :?

:excited: :excited: At first I thought you meant "The ancient Forum" at the back of the policeman station near the river gardens, where one can gett*en an excellent pint of Bass for, well, underneath £3.......

Some are dependent upon interlinked CSS files, which manufactures the job slightly complicated. I've restricted it as far as I can without creating any conflicts, but am continuing to w**k on it.

I assume you mean lists, copy, paste, and code? If so, I agree.
