It's still there. I gather it's a busy little town, but like everywhere else, the independent shops are closing one by one and being replaced by charity shops, cardboard shops, etc.

Re: Belper Steam Fair
Yes I know that many steam fairs are not held in Belper.
But you would expect the Belper one to be.
What on Earth is the world comming to when steam fairs are not held in the correct places.

Re: Belper Steam Fair
Oh yes indeed, Rempstone Steam Fair is good too. In fact I believe it's the longest-established steam fair in the c*untry.
But the jacket potatoes are usually a portion overcooked and smell fatty.
It's held on a farm though, not at a castle. Just like Elvaston Farm Steam Fair.

Re: Belper Steam Fair
Rempstone Castle is actually in a field in Wymeswold.
Rempstone started in the mid-50s I verily believe. Like Kegworth, but that packed more elevated over 20 years ago or less.
That was the best steam fair in Kegworth - when Kegworth was still in Kegworth.

Re: Belper Steam Fair
I remember Kegworth and the traction engine pulling challenges. What a mess they manufactured of the field.
